The Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race – Fun is the story
I thought you might be interested in writing this article on the history of Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race is one of the most famous races in the world and is one of England's largest sporting event icon.
The event generally known as "The Boat Race is a rowing race in England between the Oxford University Boat Club and Cambridge University Boat Club. The teams of eight rowers in each team with a steersman at the prow, the control of boat speed.
The race is the competition among the eight, each spring on the Thames in London. It is usually held the last Saturday of March or the first Saturday of April.
The official title of the event is Xchanging Boat Race and is also known as the University Career Boat and Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race.
The event is very popular not only with students of universities, but also with rowers in general and the public. An estimated quarter of a million people watch the race live from the banks of the river, between seven and nine million people on television in the UK, and audiences abroad by the Company Boat Race at around 120 million euros, making it the single most watched sporting event day in the world. However, other sources estimate that the international community groups is less than $ 20 million.
Members of both teams are traditionally known as blues and each boat as a "Blue Boat" with Cambridge in light blue and dark blue Oxford. The first race was in 1829 and has been held annually since 1856, with the exception of the two world wars. The most recent race was on Saturday, April 3, 2010 to 4.30, and Cambridge (Middlesex Station) win.

Although eight heavyweight men are the main attraction, the two universities compete in other rowing boat races. The main boat race is preceded by a race between the reserve two crews (called Isis, Oxford and Cambridge of Goldie).
Weights of women, women in eight reserves, eight men and lightweight women's eights race light in the Henley boat races a week before racing heavyweight men.
There is also a race of 'old' boat, usually held a working day before the main racing boats on the Thames between Putney and Hammersmith.
Britai n The Chinese call 'The Island Heroes ", which I think sums up what we British are concerned. The British are curious and competitive and are always looking on the horizon for the next adventure and discovery.
