Where can I find the cheapest SONY HVR-Z7E camcorder?
I am to purchase the cheapest SONY HVR-Z7E camcorder for a charity. So, I am trying to find the cheapest price which has been £3600 (including VAT) up to now. Could you please share your ideas about finding the cheapest camcorder of this type? Please let me know where to buy, i.e. the full reference, as detailed as you can?
P.S. Just please check those companies which have this camcorder available.
Be very careful when you are searching “cheapest”.
Most reputable dealers selling new gear will be pretty close to the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price.
“Your £3600 (including VAT)” is about US$5,300. bhphotovideo and adorama (both very reputable dealers) have the Z7E for nearly $6,000 (without VAT). You are looking for a price reduction of over £500. Pro-grade gear generally does not have price elasticity like consumer grade equipment – unless the equipment is being replaced by a newer model. In this case, the HVR-Z7 is newly released and is not replacing anything (it is the first in the HVR line with the interchangable lens mechanism).
Not so reputable “dealers” will lure you in with “cheapeast price” then charge for “add-ons” like lenses that do not exist, power supply, battery, cables, that come in the box when you buy from a reputable dealer. Most times, what you thought was a “good deal” to start with ends up more than the price from the reputable dealer.
If it looks too good to be true, it probably is…

Yes, I know these are US examples, but there is no reason to think it might different elsewhere. Please beware, “cheapest”, it can bite you.
Any particular reason (other than the interchangeable lenses) the HVR-Z5 or Z1 won’t meet your requirements? Another option is to identify a local dealer and see if they are willing to provide discount for the charity.
