Good camcorders that are compatible with MAC!?!?
OK, so, I am looking to buy a camcorder(or rather looking to receive one for a graduation present) and I am having a hard time finding information about MAC compatible camcorders. I would like to have fairly good image and audio quality, image stabilizers and that kind of stuff, and I want to be able to put the video on my computer and edit it.(Adding music, sound effects, credits, stuff like that.)
Any recommendations? I don’t want to spend a TON, but I’d rather pay more and get a GOOD camera.

Any camcorder that records to a Mini DV or HDV format AND has a firewire (iLink, IEEE1394) port. Sony and Canon are pretty good camcorders.
Stay away from Micro DV, DVD or VHS type of camcorders.
Be sure to purchase a 4 to 6 pin firewire cable, they don’t come as an accessory on any camcorder, iMovie will only recognize camcorders connected with FW.
I also suggest you get the biggest, GB wise, external drive with firewire ports that you can afford since you plan on editing your footage and format it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). A 1 Hr. Mini DV will take up about 13 GB of hard drive space, more so if it’s HDV.
