If I won a gld medal in a championship lets say athletics and I worn a gold medal and I’m muslim is that a sin?
? Sorry there was no space for the question mark or the letter ‘o’ but if I won let’s say an olympic gold medal in the 100m sprint but I’m muslim and Islam says its a sin to wear gold but when I’m only wearing anyway just for the camera, have I committed a sin?
well, you have to use some common sense. there are always reasons for doing things in islam. islam is not some mumbo jumbo cult, it is a very sophisticated religion.
wearing gold most likely means gold jewelery. and probably has something to do with showing off ones wealth. wearing a gold medal is not the same as wearing jewelery. nor does one walk around with a medal around their neck day in day out.
it is just a symbolic thing to have a medal around ones neck. To shower the winner with a symbol of pride and accomplishment. my guess is that it would not be a sin. but a proper scholar has to answer your question because it is a fatwa, and I am not qualified to give a fatwa.
