Canon Powershot S3 IS HELP!?

I just got a Canon Powershot S3 IS about 3 months ago and have been wanting to get a lens for it but I know NOTHING about lenses or the technical side of photography. I’m not looking to make a career out of it; I just really like doing it. I’d like to take a class eventually, but I just can’t afford to right now. So…. could someone PLEASE recommend a good “all purpose” lens or two!

And please do not say you can’t add a lens. If you go on the CANON WEBSITE and find the product information for the Powershot S3 IS it says you can add lenses. Here are the 4 listed:

Wide Converter WC-DC58A
TC-DC58B Teleconverter Lens
LAH-DC20 Lens Adapter/Hood Set
58mm Close-up Lens 500D

So between these 4, which should I get and why?

Ok, suggestions for your options first.

If you like to shoot interiors, or like that fish-eye look in skateboarder pictures, wide converter may help you.

Teleconverter I think is may be useful if you are going to use this to shoot some tennis players from the stands.

LAH-DC20 may be something you need for the teleconverter lens and/or if you’re going to use a filter on it, it’ll let you use a 58mm filter with it.

I like the close-up, if you’re going to shot something extreme closeup, like details on a old coin.

Of the four, I think the wide converter is the one I’d think you will use the most. What actually is useful depend on what kind of photography you like to do.

If possible, you should get a cheap DSLR like Canon Rebel. The lens selection is SUPERB, no shortage of lens that suit your needs. It may cost you another couple hundred dollars, but you’ll be able to get much better pictures with it.
