Should I get a Nikon D40 or Nikon D70?
I'm a photographer, wanting to upgrade the cameras. He has never owned a Nikon, but professionals we know love. I wanted a d40, and a friend swears by it, but I found a great deal on a D70 with a lot of items included: body Nikon D70 Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor lens (70mm F3.5 ED-18-4.5g) SB-600 i-TTL flash + soft case Nikon camera strap 3 batteries and charger X 2 X 1 GB card flash (a SanDisk 1GB Ultra II and Lexar Professional Ultra-High Speed 80X card) 77mm LCD cover ring converter (allows the use of filters 77 mm) 77 mm Tiffen UV filter protector in the price, sounds like a good deal, but since I do not know anything about Nikon, I do not know if it's as good a deal as it seems. What would you like to go? A d40 d70 with nothing or with everything? Is a better d40 d70? All comments greatly appreciated.
D40 and D70 image quality is almost the same. D70 is two generations old, replaced by the D80, which was replaced by the D90, but do not let that bother you. D70 image quality is still good. More D70 can autofocus lenses (including 50 mm f1.8, which is a cheap, quick, sharp good lens). D40 needs AF-I and AF-S for autofocus, autofocus not AF or AF-D. D70 with anything would be better than the D40 anything. D70 yet? Naked.
