Someone who knows of photography please?
Okay, so I love old cameras and I REALLY want to buy one. I don’t know if these two that I chose are good brands or of good quality, but I want to buy one of them and I don’t know which. Please someone who knows about photography who can tell me which is best! I know there’s better cameras out there, but those are the ones I liked the most… I would really appreciate you help! Thanks!

Neither are the “best”, that is down to the individual using them and personal preference.
I once owned a Voigtlander Vito C Deluxe, a lovely camera. It is solid, superb build, excellent lens, huge bright viewfinder, overall excellent. The issue that you will have with this camera is that it is fully manual. You will have to set the focus distance, aperture, and shutter speed, and use appropriate ISO speed film, all manually. Without knowing how to control exposure properly, or using a hand held light meter properly, you will struggle to use this camera to it’s full potential.
The Nikkormat is similar to the Vito in many ways but also a different camera entirely. It is an SLR, meaning that it uses a mirror and a Single Lens Reflex to project the image into the viewfinder for you to see (you will see through the lens as opposed to the rangefinder type viewfinder of the Vito) and when you take the shot, the mirror will flip out the way, the shutter curtains will open for the time you have set them too, and the image will be taken. Again with this camera you will have to set the exposure manually, but you will have an exposure needle/meter visible in the viewfinder to assist you with this. This is not as easy as it sounds, you will need to mount the lenses correctly to the camera using the meter coupling pin, otherwise an incorrect exposure will occur. It is something that an experienced photographer will have no problem understanding, but to an amateur?, well it can be a little complicated. This camera however has one major advantage over the Vito, you can change lenses and the range of second hand lenses for this camera is huge.
So which is best for you?.. I personally think that neither of these cameras is suitable for a beginner unless you are prepared to study photography and are prepared to learn from your mistakes (I don;t want to hear “all my images came out dark, it’s the camera’s fault, I’m just gonna sell it on”).. Maybe look at something a little easier to use such as Canon AE-1 Program or a Pentax K1000?. If you must choose between those two you mentioned, well I would recommend the Nikkormat, it’s a lovely camera but will take some practice to get used to.
