How do i take pictures through the lcd screen on my Nikon D3000?
I have a nikon d300o and i want to take pictures with them showing on the lcd screen instead of through the peek hole thing i just got it and im not too good with it or know anything about it yet so help please?
That little peek hole thing is called a viewfinder and it the key to controlling your images using all the information that is in it. It is also part of the three point camera stabilization necessary to get sharp images at slow shutter speeds.
I take it you did buy the D3000 to be able to produce high quality and resolution images as well as control your exposures, right?
With the viewfinder up to your eye and the cameras body against your cheek, you hold the cameras lens and bottom of its body with your left hand and your right holds the camera with your finger on the shutter release. In this position, not only is the camera steady, you you can see everything you need to know to produce well exposed and composed images. See page 27 of your user manual
Had you looked at the specifications on the D3000, you would have noticed that there is NO live view feature, which is really a good thing because trying to compose and expose a shot with your nearly 2 pound camera at arm’s length will add enormous amounts of camera movement which causes blur
The Nikon D5000 has live view but it is only recommended when shooting at unusual camera angles were using the articulated LCD is about the only practical way of composing shots or if you are a scientific photographer and will have the camera attached to a microscope or telescope or if you are a studio photographer and are shooting a lot of product shots with the camera attached to a tripod and AC adapter supplying power from the mains
