Japan Love Hotels
The Japanese are a practical people. In the past the majority of young adults living with their parents until they get married and it was not uncommon to find three generations living under one roof, separated only by their fine paper and shoji screens. Needless to say, finding a suitable place to practice the most private of acts was difficult to achieve. Emerging out of necessity, "Love Hotels" was introduced in late 1950, offering couples who wanted time alone to rent an affordable room for an hour. While they may be perceived as indecent or odd to a foreign visitor, love hotels are considered futsuu (normal) Japan, a fact of life for high school students in a maximum average age lovers and beyond. The Japanese attitude toward sex is usually more relaxed and cosmopolitan the west, and these establishments are allowed a segment of a society where space and privacy are at a premium.
Originally the model of the inns called traditional Japanese Ryokan, hotels in the early 60's gradually started to offer a more modern, Western concepts of love and romance, with roof and mirrors rotating beds with European-style furnishings adorn each room. Over time these were replaced by services of high-tech rooms contemporary now offers fully automated. Television offers a variety of movies or music karaoke, while the radio and the lights are effortlessly controlled from the bedside. sandwiches alcohol, and sex toys "can be ordered room service and paid with a credit card. Love hotels are a model of discretion, and ensuring that a client can relax completely if it is a priority. Patients who do not see the premise of the staff or other customers, and anonymity is guaranteed forever. Those arriving by car into parking garage hidden from view, and staff often cover the license plates to deter the curious. Upon entering the area receiving the customer is greeted by a lighted panel that displays photos of available rooms. Election of the room as simple as pressing a button no lights on the panel confirms the selected room is occupied. Payment is made with discretion to a staff member who remains hidden behind a wall, and verbal exchange between the employer and the staff is usually unnecessary.
Depending on the location and exclusive hotel, the amount paid for time spent varies. Room rates are displayed on a sign in front of the hotel, and can range from (2.500 to 6.000) yen for a "break" (usually two hours) for up to 12.000 yen overnight. Although often cheaper than hotels for business or other traditional accommodation, love hotels do not provide the same services as regards mobility. Once you have left the hotel, unfortunately have to pay again to re-enter.
