Extending a 25mm Plossl with a 3x Barlow?
I am a newcomer to astronomy and telescopes and related accessories. I wonder if I were to use a 3x Barlow lens in a 25 mm Plossl, which is expanding? And what would now be mm Plossl? Oops! Sorry, focal length of 1200mm.
The expansion is three times what it is with single 25mm. Since you have not told us the focal length of your telescope or increased cars, I can not calculate the actual increase. The equivalent focal length is: 25 mm / 3 = 8.3 mm usually recommend that people stick to 2x Barlow. You can then change this to 3 times (or more) by simply adding a spacer between the tube Barlow and the eyepiece. With a refractor or Cassegrain, putting in front of Barlow on the diagonal has same effect.
